Alfred Nobel originally sold his invention as "Nobel's Blasting Powder" but decided to change the name to dynamite, from the Ancient Greek word δύναμις dýnamis, which mean's "power".Today Dynamite is mainly used in the mining, quarrying, construction, and demolition industries.
